Joseph “Joe” Howard Jackson died at the age of 92 on May 13, 2026 at home with his wife Gerry by his side, in Flower Mound, Texas. A resident of Texas since 2017, Joe had previously lived in California his entire life. Originally from San Mateo, his parents, Howard and Amelia Jackson, moved to Pasadena, CA with Joe while he was still a child. After finishing high school, Joe worked his way through college – Loyola University in Los Angeles – and graduated in 1955 with a degree in Philosophy and a minor in Economics. He served in the Army of the United States for two years, part of which was spent in Germany.
When he returned home from service, he secured a position with Security Pacific National Bank in Los Angeles and rose rapidly through the ranks working for many years in various support departments and finally achieving the title of First Vice President. Joe had the opportunity to work with consulting firms, and soon afterwards ran a management consulting subsidiary of Security Pacific. Joe eventually formed his own management consulting company and worked with many clients, primarily banks and other financial institutions, until retirement. A devout Catholic, Joe offered his services gratis to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and assisted in restructuring departments to reduce overhead and tighten reporting relationships. While volunteering was primarily his wife’s domain, Joe was involved in the Los Angeles chapter of Junior Chamber International as a young professional and spent also spent many years volunteering for his parish, St. Therese Catholic Church, and helping out at the Carmelite Monastery in Alhambra, CA, before moving to Texas.
An avid sailor, Joe was happiest at the helm of his sailboat while sailing both in the Santa Monica bay and the Marina del Rey basin. He loved his Catholic faith, particularly the Traditional Latin Mass, classical music, and was an insatiable reader, particularly military and mystery books. Joe was often spotted wearing his beloved San Francisco 49ers baseball cap. Those who had the privilege of knowing him will remember his quick wit and keen intellect.
He is survived by his wife, Gerry Jackson, their children Mary Catherine Jackson and Patricia Jackson Gonzalez (Arturo Gonzalez); Joe’s daughter Hilary Jackson Perez (Enrique Perez); and Joe’s and Gerry’s grandchildren, Sara Ghassemzadeh, Aria Ghassemzadeh, Isabella Gonzalez, Vincent Gonzalez, Genevieve Gonzalez, and Elijah Gonzalez.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to the St. Philip the Apostle building fund in Flower Mound, TX.
