Judy Ray Hawkins of Grapevine, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at her home surrounded by family at the age of 73. Judy was born in Wolfe City, Texas on December 10, 1946.

She had many roles in life; daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, business woman and friend. Many will remember her as being a beautiful light with a great sense of humor. She worked for Fitz and Floyd in Dallas and then became Vice President of Marketing for National Health. She loved to explore the world with her husband, family, and friends- visiting 6 out of the 7 continents and almost every state in the US. Learning about other cultures, trying new foods, and capturing photos of all of her journeys was something that brought her so much joy. She was always ready for a new adventure.

Judy was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Grapevine where she sang in the choir for many years.

Judy was welcomed into Heaven with open arms by her parents Shelby and Viola Thornton and her husband George Hawkins.

Judy is survived by two daughters, Kristie Ballew and husband Vance; and Donna Ray; two granddaughters, Whitney Martin and husband Zak; and Shelby Henson; and her beloved dog, Cano.

The family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to those who lovingly helped care for Judy over the last 6 years as she battled dementia- the entire staff at Dancing River Assisted Living and Memory Care, Judy’s home health nurse, Kelly Morris (and the staff with Sunrise Home Health), and Nurse Practitioner Christy Jones. The Family is also thankful for the staff at Comfort Choice Hospice and Choice PlusCare.

A memorial service will be held at J.E. Foust & Son Funeral Home in Grapevine, Texas on Saturday, July 18th at 11am. Face masks will be required at the service.

Donations may be made in honor of Mrs. Hawkins to the Alzheimer's Association.

We had some wonderful family get-togethers from the time we were young to adults. It was fun to spend time with cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, parents and all....lasting happy memories. The last time we were together, I met you and Shelby at his home to look for VanHoozer pictures...even though none were found, we had a good visit. I always had to laugh at your emails. You wanted to keep in touch but said you didn't know a thing about how to do emails. That became obvious when you would send me an email and the entire message was always in the Subject box! That made your emails pretty short! After that, we just communicated via phone calls.
I know there was a happy reunion on the other side when you arrived. Prayers to your family for peace and much joy through happy memories.
Love from your cousin, Sondra

Donna-so very sorry to hear of your loss, but hope that your happy memories will help to heal your heart at this difficult time. I didn't know your mom, but moms are always a very special part of our lives, and my heart goes out to you, my dear friend.

This is such sad news, my sympathy goes out to you all. We had plenty of fun times with Judy and my parents ( Marie & Scottie) Judy was such a go getter and had a great sense of decorating for Christmas it was wonderful to see her at her craft. She was a wonderful friend to both of my parents.
With all my heart ,
Lucinda
