

GRAPEVINE -- Margaret Elaine Newman Baber died peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016, at a Grapevine healthcare facility. She was 92 years old. Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of J.E. Foust & Son Funeral Home, 523 South Main St., Grapevine, 76051. Interment: Private. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until service time on Tuesday. She was born on Feb. 7, 1924, in Livingston to James Ivor and Pearl Newman. She grew up in Shreveport, La., graduating from C. E. Byrd High School in 1941. She remained close friends throughout the years with "The Girls" from her class. Elaine and her husband, Loy, were longtime residents of Grapevine, since 1952. She was in the florist business for many years. She started her career with Francis Wilkins at Wilkins Florist, then managing florists in Euless and Arlington. She managed the Flower Shop, owned by Robert and Velma Stark, until her retirement. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. The family is also grateful for the care and support provided by the loving staff of Kindred and Kindred Hospice. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loy Baber. Survivors: She leaves behind her daughter, Sherry Baber Tarter and husband, David; son, James Baber and wife, Leann; grandchildren, James Lee Tarter and friend, Karen Davis, Carrie Tarter and Sandra Baber-Sandefur and husband, Mark; and great- granddaughter, Laura Tarter. Elaine was also loved by "Mema and Odie's Special Family," Jessica Robertson and Amber Tieken, and many extended family members.
