Marilyn was born August 28, 1957 in Tokyo, Japan to Tilman Pyeatt & Lena Pyeatt Cramer and passed away January 18, 2019 in Fort Worth, TX. She was survived by her husband, Kenny Wayne Fry; daughter, Amber Ahart Wilkinson & husband Jacob; mother, Lena Cramer; brothers, Gene Pyeatt & wife Marsha and Lehman Pyeatt & wife Jennifer; nephew, Evan Pyeatt; numerous cousins and her German Shepherd Hannah. At the time of her passing, she and her husband resided in North Richland Hills TX.
Marilyn was a long-time member of St Vincent’s Cathedral in Bedford TX and her faith was very important. It saw her through her most difficult times.
She was a devoted animal lover and helped to found the Helping Paws of North Texas in 2011, which supports the Richland Hills Animal Shelter in the rescue, rehabilitation, and re-homing of adoptable pets. She was very active in fundraising and wanted to ensure all pets received a loving forever home. She loved her German Shepherd dogs, Hannah & Shiloh, and when she wasn’t at work, they were always at her side.
Prior to moving to Texas, she owned a 5-acre farm in Arkansas, which was filled with horses, sheep, dogs, cats, and a few pigs. As a veterinarian technician while in Arkansas, she was able to devote all of her time to the love and care of animals.
Marilyn was also a fine musician and singer. She was the bassist and lead vocalist for their family band, The Pyeatt Family, which also included her dad and 2 brothers. According to one historian from Texas A&M University, they were the first Asian-American bluegrass band in the state of Texas when they began performing publicly in 1968. As she grew older and began raising a family, she wasn’t able to find as much time for performing, but she never lost her love for music.
A Celebration of Life will take place 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 24, 2019 at St. Vincent’s Cathedral Church, 1300 Forest Ridge Dr., Bedford, TX.
