She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, James (Jim) Landgrebe, and her loving children, Lauren and Eric and their respective spouses and children.
Marilyn was born July 26, 1940, in Bowman, ND, the daughter of late Bruce and Marion Shepersky, the second of six siblings. She grew up in San Diego, CA, and after high school graduation and beginning college classes, was hired as a stewardess for PSA Airlines. She soon met a Naval Officer, the love of her life. On October 9, 1965, she married Jim at the North Island Chapel at the Navy Base. She enjoyed living in Japan as a newlywed due to Jim’s deployment during the Vietnam War. Upon their return to the US, Marilyn and Jim lived briefly in Marietta, GA, Long Beach, CA, and Ocean Springs, MS before putting down roots back in San Diego, CA. Daughter, Lauren came along in 1971, and son Eric in 1973. After raising their family, she moved to Texas in 1992 with Jim when he accepted a position to work for General Dynamics in Fort Worth. They quickly made many dear friends through the Fort Worth Newcomers and St Matthews Lutheran Church. In early 2000, as she anticipated the arrival of their first grandchild, Marilyn and Jim developed plans and built their dream home on Lake Granbury, where they lived until their move to Grapevine in 2016.
Marilyn’s work life spanned a broad range of service-related positions - from AVON lady to middle-school counselor to cruise line travel agent. But being a full-time wife and mother were her most treasured accomplishments. She loved to travel the world with Jim (and collect jewelry and souvenirs to commemorate their adventures), host large family and holiday gatherings, and volunteer with church, school and community activities. Her “green thumb” (beautiful houseplants and garden) and “Mary Poppins purse” (she always had everything anyone could ever need) were the envy of many. She hosted exchange students from all over the world and always shared her appreciation for their various cultural differences. She never stepped out of the house without perfectly painted nails and bright red lipstick.
Her love of animals, art, the beach, and above all faith and family, will continue to bless the lives of her children, grandchildren and all who knew and loved her, for many years to come.
