A life-long educator, Mike taught in the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, at Fort Worth Country Day, and at the University of North Texas. He retired from Garland ISD and did a post-retirement stint as assistant superintendent for Richardson ISD. In his spare time, he founded a successful data analytics software company that allowed school districts to gain early insight into their predicted rankings on Texas accountability measurements.
Mike was an avid outdoorsman, a hobby that reached its high point—literally—in a climb of Mt. Ranier. Mike was dedicated to community service, spending years as an active member of Rotary International.
Mike was both survived by and preceded in death by countless brothers of his beloved Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. While an undergraduate at North Texas State University (now University of North Texas), Mike always said his greatest contribution to the Gamma Xi chapter was as pledge master, guiding new members into a life-long brotherhood.
Mike is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandy Samples Strozeski; his nephew Joseph Parchman and his wife Val; Jackie Dinsmore and his wife Sandy; his brother-in-law Steve Samples; and his sister-in-law Roxann Samples along with her children Daniel Samples and Katie Samples. He was preceded in death by his parents Guy and Margaret Parchman; his brothers Greg Parchman and Scott Parchman; his brother-in-law Dan Samples; and Naomi Copeland Parchman of Anna, Texas. Dogs held a special place in Mike’s heart, and he has now rejoined the four that he loved throughout his life.
Mike’s impact was tremendous. He has left a void that cannot be filled and will be missed by all.
