Ramah Jo Wood

Ramah Jo Wood, better known as Mama, Sweetie, or Granny, went to be with the Lord on January 2, 2025. Ramah Jo’s love for the Lord was evident in her devotion to serving others in her church and community. She was the longest-standing member at First Baptist Church Grapevine. Her door was always open, and her home was a haven for many family members. She was happiest when her family gathered at her house or the lake house, which was next door to her late brother Billy Frank's. She cherished the rare privilege of living long enough to capture many five-generation family photos.

Ramah Jo was born on July 28, 1932, to Lee and Pearle Emery Tidwell in Grapevine, TX. She passed away peacefully in her home of 70 years, with her husband by her side.

She is survived by her loving husband, Steve Wood of Grapevine, TX; her daughter, Dianne Amburn, and husband, Jack, of Graham, TX; stepson, Steve Wood Jr., and wife, Joy Dee, of Colorado; stepdaughter, Edwena Potter of Flower Mound, TX; and sister, Nancy Widner. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Tammy Singleton and husband, Dub, of Grapevine, TX; Shane Burt and wife, Sheila, of Graham, TX; three granddaughters, Paxton Wagner, Mason Stutsman, and Tatum Burt; and step-grandchildren, Gregory Potter and Kalyn Potter. Additionally, she is survived by three great-great-grandsons and five great-great-granddaughters.

Ramah Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee and Pearle Tidwell; her son, Baby Boy Widner; her brothers, Billy Frank Tidwell, Ottice Tidwell, John Clarence Tidwell, Thaddeus Tidwell, Glendon Oscar Tidwell, and William Dewey Tidwell; and her sister, Marie Grant.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025, from 6–8 p.m. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 1 p.m. Both services will take place at J.E. Foust & Son Funeral Home in Grapevine, TX. Graveside services will immediately follow at Grapevine Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Meals on Wheels, a charity she deeply loved and served.
