It is with deep love and enduring remembrance that we honor the life of Richard Rhode, who passed away on March 26th. A man who embraced both the exhilaration of life’s adventures and the quiet depth of its most meaningful moments.
At the center of Richard’s world was his beloved wife of 50 years, Ursula. Their relationship was the foundation of his life, built on devotion, partnership, shared laughter, and unwavering love. She was his heart, his constant, his confidante, and the place where he felt most himself. Their bond shaped everything he was and everything he valued.
Family was the center of Richard’s world. He was a devoted father who held high standards and could be strict, but beneath that was a love that never wavered. He wanted the very best for his children, always, whether or not he said it aloud.
His grandchildren were a profound source of joy and light in his life. With them, something softened and opened. They brought out a playful, unguarded happiness that reminded everyone around him of the wonder still alive within him.
Richard carried a distinct spark—an energy that made his presence known without ever demanding attention. He had a genuine appreciation for life’s simple pleasures: a perfectly made martini, a nice glass of wine, and the easy conversations that unfold in good company. These moments were never just routines for him; they were rituals of connection and joy.
A devoted football fan, he cheered passionately, especially for his beloved Green Bay Packers, sharing in the excitement, victories, and heartbreaks that came with the game.
An adventurer at heart, Richard loved to travel and explore new places, collecting experiences that stayed with him long after the journey ended. The mountains held a special place in his heart. Whether skiing through fresh powder or simply taking in the stillness and beauty of high-altitude landscapes, he found both exhilaration and peace there.
One of Richard’s most unforgettable qualities was his unique sense of humor. His wit was instinctive, sharp, and perfectly timed. He had a rare ability to lighten heavy moments and bring laughter exactly when it was needed most. The laughter he created wasn’t just heard—it was felt and will be remembered fondly by all that knew him.
Richard will be remembered not for any single role he played, but for the fullness of who he was—vibrant, curious, loyal, and deeply human. His absence will be felt, but so will the imprint he left in the stories shared, the traditions continued, the laughter remembered, and the love that continues to echo through the lives he touched.
A service to honor and celebrate Richard’s life will be held on April 12 at 2:00 PM at Faust Funeral Home.
He is gone from sight, but not from presence. That kind of impact does not disappear but lives on in the people who carry it forward.
