Robert William Holmes

Born in Tawas, Michigan December 19, 1933, Bob was the son of Everett and Lily Holmes of Lansing, Michigan.

Bob shared 70 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Martha Arlene Frazier Holmes. The two met in 1954 while attending Eastern Bible Institute in Green Lane, Pennsylvania, beginning a lifelong partnership built on devotion, faith and mutual love.

Together, they raised four sons - Tim, Tom, Terry and Todd. Bob taught his sons by example, grounding them in values that defined his own life: put God first, family second and work, work, work.

A skilled carpenter and woodworker by trade, Bob had a rare talent for crafting and could fix or repair just about anything. His remarkable vigor and work ethic never faded - even on his 90th birthday, he was changing the front struts on his car. After retiring from Holmes Builders in 1999, at the age of 66, Bob continued to lend his talents to God's work. In 2005, he was head of construction for First Assembly of God DFW in Bedford, Texas.

Throughout their lives, Bob and Martha faithfully served every church community they belonged to across Pennsylvania, New York, Missouri and Texas. Over the years, Bob humbly filled whatever role was needed - serving as a Sunday School teacher, Royal Ranger leader, church board member, altar worker and Sunday school superintendent. If his pastor asked, Bob did it. The only thing he couldn't do was sing; he couldn't carry a tune in a bucket, but that never stopped him from joyfully trying.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Martha; his sons, Timothy (Mary Ann) of Stroudsburg, PA; Thomas (Carlene) of Normandy, TN; Terry (Michelle) of Coppell, TX and Todd (Jennifer) of Saylorsburg, PA. He leaves behind a rich legacy of 24 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Claude (Shirley) and Ralph (Jan); and his sisters, Corky White (Dean), Jane Frendt and Julie McGee(Mike). He is also survived by his long-time dear friends, Dale and Andre Clark.

Bob's life was a testament to quiet strength, practical faith, unwavering dedication to family and a heart devoted to serving others. He will be missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at First Assembly of God, DFW, 3800 State Hwy 121, Bedford, TX 76021, US, on August 22, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by the Funeral at the same location from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.

Committal will take place at Parker Memorial Cemetery, 3900 William D Tate Ave, Grapevine, TX 76051, US, on August 22, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
