Rodney Passow

Rodney shared nearly 47 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Beverly Huddleston Passow, until her passing. Together they built a life raising two children: Whitney Passow Miers (Mitch) of Grapevine, Texas, and Chandler Passow of Austin, Texas. Rodney was a devoted and proud grandfather to Meadow and Dylan Miers.

Later in life, Rodney was blessed to find love again with his wife, Pam Miller Passow, with whom he shared many happy years in Houston. Through their marriage, he welcomed Pam's daughter, Jamie, and grandson, SJ, into his life.

Born in San Angelo, Texas, Rodney spent his childhood in San Angelo, Pecos, and Fort Stockton before moving to Aspen, Colorado, as a teenager. There he developed a talent for skiing after being taught by members of the WWII 10th Mountain Division. He attended Angelo State University, where he met Beverly, before transferring to Texas State University, where he earned his degree.

Shortly after their wedding, Rodney answered the call to serve his country in Vietnam as a Second Lieutenant, leading his platoon with courage and distinction. For his bravery and sacrifice, he was awarded a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars. His military service remained one of the defining chapters of his life, and he carried that quiet strength and sense of duty with him always.

After returning home to the US, Rodney and Beverly settled on a farm in Weatherford, where they began raising their family before making Fort Worth their home for many years. Rodney built a respected career as a bank examiner and trust officer, while also pursuing his passion for restoring historic homes and renovating numerous houses in the Berkeley neighborhood. Rodney also served on the Fort Worth Zoo Board, the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo Committee, and many other civic organizations.

While living in Fort Worth, Rodney earned a degree in Ranch Management from Texas Christian University. He went on to manage ranches and dairies, a profession that combined his love of agriculture, animals, and the land. Recently he had stated, those years were among the happiest of his life.

As an exceptionally talented carpenter and handyman, Rodney and Beverly later built homes in Crawford and Magnolia on acreage in the countryside. As a lover of animals, they continued to welcome horses, dogs and any other animals that would wander on the property. He was an incredible handyman and had a remarkable ability to build or repair just about anything. Whether he was working on cars or tackling projects around the house, he took pride in doing things the right way.

Rodney was a trusted friend, a generous neighbor, and someone who was always ready to lend a helping hand or share thoughtful advice. He was a gifted storyteller whose vivid memories preserved generations of family history. Later in life, Rodney was proud to have reconnected with his OSC buddies and old friends from Vietnam. He loved and respected their comradery and support they could provide each other. Yet perhaps he was happiest in the simplest moments—riding horseback across a Texas pasture, surrounded by cattle.

Rodney was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Huddleston Passow, and his parents, John Henry and Mary Helen Johnston Passow.

He is survived by his wife, Pam Miller Passow; his children, Whitney Passow Miers (Mitch) and Chandler Passow; his grandchildren, Meadow and Dylan Miers; his stepdaughter, Jamie Fritsche (Sean) , and grandson, SJ; his brothers, Johnny Passow (Karon) of El Paso, Texas, and Steve Passow (Karen) of Denver, Colorado; his sister, Michelle Passow of Ruidoso, New Mexico; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Rodney's life was one of courage, service, craftsmanship, generosity, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. His legacy lives on in his family, his friends and the many lives he touched through his kindness, wisdom, and quiet strength. He will be missed and forever remembered.
