OBITUARY

Sandra "Sandy" Gail Pirkle Foster

September 25, 1939July 21, 2020

Sandra Gail Pirkle Foster, 80, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020 and met with her Lord and Savior, and the mighty angels of Heaven. She was born to C.F. Bill and Mary Lorene Pirkle on September 25, 1939. She has three children, Karla, Kay and Brad.

She had enjoyed a full life that had included being a realtor for many years, sewing for her family, babysitting her grandkids, managing the family farm, leading a Sunday School class at First Baptist Church of Grapevine, as well as being a very active member of FBC all of her life. She was such an amazing and giving person, full of energy and fire. She was well-loved and admired by so many. Words can never capture what she meant to her entire family. She lived her life to the full, giving to the last drop of her energy. She was still showing her personality, laughing and making her expressive faces up to her last minute on earth. She was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2014 and spent her last 6 years being lovingly cared for by caregivers Annette, Kathie, Karen, Rhonda, Brenda, Cheryl, Pam, Dorita and Alma. She is so grateful for that care and love.

She was preceded in death by her father, C.F Bill Pirkle, mother, Mary Lorene Pirkle, brother, Darrell Pirkle and great-granddaughter, Melody Clare Bussell.

Survivors: Children, Karla Pratorius, Kay Cross and husband, Tracy, Brad Schreiber and wife, Jessica; step-daughter Tamye Oshman and husband, Leonard, grandchildren; Sheena Keliher and husband, Sean, Kayla Bussell and husband, Jacob, Levi and Colbie Schreiber; step-grandchildren, Scott Oshman and wife Molly, Matt Oshman; great-grandchildren, Adelaide and Genevieve Keliher, Aidan and Erin Bussell; step-grandchildren Parker and Hunter Oshman; nephew, Bill Pirkle and wife, Melinda; niece, Dara OBannon and husband, Micah; great-nieces, Caitlin, Rebecca and Rachel Pirkle and Victoria Elise Taylor.

My Mother sent me this sad news and i felt like responding. Although I really did not “know” her, I remember her from when I was a kid, and thought she was really a kind lady. My mother liked her very much as well. I was in the same class with her daughter Kay, and even though I haven’t seen her in probably 40+ years, I always admired her. She was the “Brain” of our class. I hope you all may find peace in the memories she left behind, I am so sorry for your loss. Sincerely, Brad Fisher

God broke the mold after creating Sandra Foster; there will never be another one like her. She was a smart, savvy, giving and Godly woman.

When I first met her 30 years ago, I wasn't quite sure what to make of this fiesty woman. After we served on several committees at church, we warmed up to each other and became great friends. She earned my respect and admiration. I will miss Sandra.

I pray God will comfort her family as they celebrate her life and mourn her passing.

May I first send out my deepest condolences to the wonderful family of Sandra Foster. May you all find peace and comfort in the days / weeks to come. My name is Annette Singer and I had the pleasure of being one of Sandras caregivers for approximately three years. We shared a lot of memorable moments during that time. I remember she loved to listen to music and Elvis in particularly. She would get up and dance with me to the CDs. It was very apparent how much she loved her family as she looked at the photo albums and smiled and smiled. She loved holidays and looked forward to family visits and nightly phone calls from Kay. Sandra may have left us physically but she will always be in our hearts. Thank you Sandra for the memories. May you R.I P. ⚘

Biography

Mom never wanted Alzheimer’s, she greatly feared it because her mother had it and had died from it in 2013. We all knew for years how afraid she was that she would have this terrible disease. So she refused to admit that she had it. I finally got her to go to the doctor with me in 2014 where she was officially diagnosed. She never wanted to live with this condition so her death was a huge blessing for her. She is in heaven with her beloved brother and dad, and her mom. I will miss her terribly, but she has left us all a lasting legacy and we are grateful for all the wonderful things she did for each of us. Thank you for visiting her page and I hope that you will write any fun or happy memories that you have of her that we can read in the days ahead.

My prayer for her had been, Lord please don’t let her suffer. She didn’t. She was laughing and smiling, and then in less than 1 minute, she was gone. A stroke or heart attack, what a blessed way to go home!

Thank you, Kay
