Born in San Francisco, California, on July 7, 1945, to Alex and Dorothy Greene, Stephen spent his early years in California, graduating from Beverly Hills High School in 1963. He went on to attend California State University, Northridge, where he studied for two years before beginning his professional journey.
Stephen dedicated over 20 years of his career to the family-owned shoe company, Sobel, Bernstein and Greene, where he helped build and uphold a proud legacy. He later worked with Westek Communications for five years before launching his own successful insurance brokerage, where he worked independently for over three decades. His professionalism, integrity, and commitment to his clients earned him lasting respect in the industry.
A man of many passions, Stephen was an avid golfer who proudly achieved a hole-in-one on November 14, 1997—an accomplishment he cherished. He found great joy in live music, traveling, and exploring the beauty of nature. Among his favorite places was Maui, Hawaii, which he considered a slice of paradise.
Stephen had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, and was a steadfast supporter of their welfare. In honor of that love, donations may be made in his name to the Mini Mutts Animal Rescue of Dallas.
Above all, Stephen was a devoted husband, father, and “Gramps.” He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Greene; his children, Sean Greene and Christy Brown (and her husband, Trent); and his treasured grandchildren, Jackson and Finley Von Tungeln. He also leaves behind his brother, Barry Greene.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Dorothy Greene, and his brother, Ron Greene.
His legacy of warmth, humor, and generosity lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
