Steve Guess

Steve was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on July 21, 1953, to Lewis and Mary Guess. He attended Keller High School and graduated in 1971.

He met his soulmate, Cathy Guess, during his teenage years, and they married on August 24, 1973. Their greatest gifts were their two children, Jessica and Dustin. Over the next 53 years, Steve and Cathy built a beautiful life and love story that inspired everyone around them.

Steve was a devoted husband and father. He showered Cathy, Jessica, and Dustin with a love beyond words. He dedicated his life to them, and his spirit lives on through them.

His family circle became complete with the addition of his daughter-in-law Amanda and the birth of his two grandsons, Kyan and Pax. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Steve knew that the title of Poppy was his most treasured one. He doted on his grandsons and never missed an opportunity to attend a baseball, hockey game, school performance, birthday party, or milestone event. He was up for anything his grandsons wanted to do, always embracing each moment with enthusiasm.

Steve lived life to the fullest. He never met a stranger, never passed up the chance to see a band he loved, and embraced every trip, hobby, and adventure that came his way. Most of all, he showed up for his wife, children, grandchildren, family, and friends no matter what. Steve made this world a better place, and our lives will be forever touched by his presence.

Steve is reunited in heaven with his beloved daughter, Jessica, along with his mother and father. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cathy; his son, Dustin, and Dustin’s life partner, Amanda; the grandchildren he adored, Kyan and Pax; and his darling fur-baby, Gracie. He is also survived by his loving sisters, Paula Hall and Pam Cannon, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom loved him dearly. He is missed beyond measure, but we take comfort in knowing he is safe in the arms of his Lord and Savior.

We will miss his gift for storytelling, his warm embraces, his countless jokes, and his laughter. Life will never quite be the same, but our memories of Steve will last a lifetime.

A celebration of life will be held at J.E. Foust in Grapevine, Texas, on September 14 at 1:00 p.m., with a Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, Steve’s family suggests donations to the American Liver Foundation. The family would also like to express their deepest gratitude to the team at Baylor All Saints in Fort Worth for their unwavering support and care, especially Dr. TK.

Steve spread love and laughter wherever he went. May the life he lived inspire each of us to carry forward his kindness, generosity, and sense of adventure.
