Tamela passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born on May 8, 1964 and raised by Jean and John Banks. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at the age of 20 at College Hills Baptist Church. Tamela married her husband of 32 years, Rickie Long, on March 23, 1986. Tamela and Rickie had one daughter, Tiffany, and three sons, Caleb, Cameron and Caegan.
Tamela radiated compassion, generosity, thoughtfulness, and love for everyone she encountered, especially for her children and husband. In this difficult season, her family is constantly reminded of the Hope they have in Jesus Christ. They find comfort that Tamela is currently singing and dancing with Jesus.
Tamela always said that she loved the phrase, “Loved Greatly and was Greatly Loved,” and this phrase exemplified her life. Tamela made a huge impact on those she counseled, those she was a friend to, and the many others who might have had the privilege of being around her.
Tamela is survived by her husband Rickie, her daughter, Tiffany, and her three sons, Caleb and his wife Caroline, Cameron and his wife Amanda, and Caegan, and her grandson, Harrison. She is also survived by her parents, Jean and John Banks, her two sisters, Kimberly and Lisa and her husband Tim, and her nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, January 13, from 12-2 p.m. at the J.E. Foust & Son Funeral Home in Grapevine, Texas. The celebration of Tamela’s life will be held on Monday, January 14, at 11 a.m. at the Met Church located at 11301 Old Denton Rd. in Fort Worth, Texas.
