Virginia Ayres Morgan Capone, lovingly known as Jenny, passed away at home surrounded by family on September 10, 2018 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday night at the funeral home. Funeral services will commence at 10 o’clock Tuesday morning in the chapel of J.E. Foust & Son funeral home in downtown Grapevine, TX. Jenny will be laid to rest in Grapevine Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
Jenny was born on September 19, 1926 in Pine Hill, AL to Osie Morgan and Annette Harvey Morgan. In 1931, her brother Alfred was born, but sadly he passed away from strep throat at three years old. Jenny often said that if it had been a few years later when penicillin was discovered, something she remembered vividly as a nurse, his death could have been prevented. In 1937, the family moved to Selma, AL. Jenny graduated from Selma High School in 1944 and joined the Cadet Nurse Corps right after graduation, which she joined because she thought the uniforms were cute. Jenny worked as a nurse for many years and eventually got a job in Civil Service at Craig Air Force base in Selma. There, she met her husband Carmen (Al) Capone, where he was working as an x-ray technician for the Air Force. They married in 1956, and thanks to the Air Force, moved to Texas, Pennsylvania, and Mississippi. They retired in Biloxi, MS and were active members of First Baptist Biloxi and made many friends during their time there. Jenny’s father always told her to make the most out of her education; therefore, Jenny went back to college and got her Master’s in Adult Education in her 50s. In 1994, the couple moved to Grapevine, TX, where they were also very active at First Baptist Grapevine. Jenny loved getting breakfast every Wednesday with women from her Sunday school class. Jenny never met a stranger and had a multitude of friends. She loved God and her family fiercely. She was an amazing story teller and her memory will live on through her stories. Jenny is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 59 years, Carmen Capone, two brothers, and her daughters, Pat Gerretse and Cynthia Lawrence. Jenny is survived by her daughter Becky Bull (George) of Williamston, MI and son Louis Capone (Margaret) of Grapevine, TX, 13 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren.
