OBITUARY
William "Carl" Carlton Fite
January 12, 1945 – November 21, 2019
Carl was born January 12, 1945 and joined his Heavenly Father on November 21, 2019. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Bill and Bessie Fite. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Brenda Fite, his daughter, Shannon Hall and her husband Brandon, his grandsons, Thomas and Grady, his sisters Judi Puckett and Becki Griggs of North Little Rock, Arkansas and his mother-in-law, Evelyn Cody. Carl leaves a large extended group of family and friends who will all miss his presence. Special thanks to the caring staff at Medical City Fort Worth and Rite at Home.
Carl was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. Carl worked in the commercial real estate banking industry. He enjoyed his family, spending time at Lake Ouachita in Arkansas, golfing with his friends at Las Colinas Country Club, hunting with his buddies at Navajo Ranch, volunteering for Helping Our Heroes Foundation and with his former church, Lovers Lane United Methodist Church, and anything related to Thomas and Grady. He was a member of White’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake, Texas.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, December 6 at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 185 S. White Chapel Blvd., Southlake, TX 76092 at 11AM.

Carl was such a lovely human being and I was privileged to know him through my wonderful long time close friend Brenda. The service was just so touching and I learned so much about Carl that I didn’t know. How proud his family must be of having him as wife, daughter, grandsons, son in law and mother in law. God bless them all. One thing I was looking forward to was to have one of his famous chocolate martinis. Love to all the family. Kay Fox

Dear Brenda and Shannon,
Carl - what a man , what a legacy, what a life! There are no words adequate enough to describe how much he will be missed. He was a great friend, and wonderful neighbor and we always enjoyed the times we spent with him along with Brenda. Life can change so suddenly and it is such a reminder to not take our dear friends and loved ones for granted. May our God through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ bless you and comfort you. May the love of family and friends and happy memories sustain you in the days to come. We know we will all be united in eternity forever and we will see Carl again. All our love and prayers for you and all the family - Al and Mary Anne Lisbona

I worked with Carl the last 15 years and it was a privilege to call him a co worker and a friend. Carl was a fine man and an integral part of the banks success. More importantly, Carl was loved deeply by everyone of his Sovereign bank family. I am sure that Carl heard “Well done, good and faithful servant.....Enter into the joy of your Master.”

Carl and I were friends for 45 years. We did everything together
with our families and other friends, everything from attending
Dallas Cowboy games to playing cards and eating at a Mexican
food restaurant on Tuesdays when the special price was $1.29,
those were the days. We didn't see each other much over the last
25 years but I will always remember our friendship and the things he did for me. See you soon Carl.

My friendship with Carl began in 1982 in the Banking Industry where I always admired his knowledge and direct insight into the art of lending. He was always a mentor and adviser that I could run deals by him and get direct honest opinions. We always enjoyed our time at Las Colinas playing golf, caddying in President Bush's Wounded Warrior tournament, talking sports and sharing stories in the 19th hole. It was an "Honor" to have him as a friend.

Carl was a great friend and long-time golfing buddy. I will greatly miss sharing with Carl our military, hunting, golfing and business experience. More recently we frequently shared the growth, development and achievements of our grandsons. Carl was very proud of and loved dearly his boys. I know they will miss him greatly as we all will.

Brenda and Shannon,
I just found out about Carl's passing and I'm so sorry to hear. My sincere condolences...your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
Carl was a great man, good friend and meant a great deal to me, I have always looked up to him. Carl got me in the Commercial Real Estate finance business when he hired me just out of school back in 1984 to work for him at E.F. Hutton...he was the best boss ever. Since that time Carl and I have continued to work together and stay close. We would always get together for lunch or a drink to get caught up. Carl was very good at Commercial Real Estate finance. He knew all property types as well as the legal side and was always right, but the best thing about him it that he was always a pleasure to deal with. I will greatly miss our friendship, he was always there for me when I had a question or needed any advice. Carl was the best!

Brenda and Shannon,
I can’t express how sorry I am for your loss. I felt such a connection with your family and I feel blessed to have been a part of caring for Carl. His kind eyes and smile gave me a glimpse of the person all your friends and family speak of here. But the true testament to his character is the way the two of you remained steadfast at his side. You can tell a lot about a person by the way his family loves him. I am here for you both if you need me. ~Rachel
Broken Chain by Ron Tranmer
We little knew that morning
God was to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
You did not go alone.
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
You left us beautiful memories,
Your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one
The chain will link again.

I am so sorry to hear about your dad. He was a really great guy. I always thought of him as a friend and not just a client. I am scheduled to be out of town on Friday, but I will see if I can change my plans.
As your parent’s CPA, please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any help. Please give my best to your mom.
May God bless the soul of you father and be with your entire family during this time.

Aloha Brenda and Shannon:
Just thinking about all the good times we shared makes me smile. From Arcadia, California to Ventura to Carmel Vally to the Yucatán, to Kauai, to Cabo, and finally back to Kauai. ...those are very special memories.
I’m raising a glass to a life well lived. Rest In Peace Carl .

A bunch of us were playing golf one Saturday, when a very bad-looking storm started to roll in. It began to rain and was miserable, and we all wanted to quit and go to the club house except for Carl. He had played 12 holes and was even par or one under, which was a great achievement. He was obviously very excited and very distraught at the same time. He said, "We can't quit now. I'm one under par." We all felt badly for him, but we were looking for an excuse to quit, while Carl was looking for a reason to keep playing and to complete a round for the ages. We felt sorry for him but not sorry enough to keep going. The fact that Carl was such a special person even pricked the consciences of a bunch of self-absorbed golfers. We will miss you Carl, but we will always remember your humble kindness. Byron

RIP Carl... he was a great guy and solid citizen... and also a great cousin. He and Brenda brought a bright spark wherever they went. I remember well at family gatherings with that generous ease of his he always asked the most thoughtful questions genuinely interested in those around him. Twice when he was visiting California in the early 70’s he stopped by my work for a drink and some laughs. I always enjoyed his insights and sense of humor. His love of family always was front and center. I am working in Europe this month and am sorry to miss the services. Giant hug to Evelyn, Brenda, Shannon and the rest of his loving family......

I was saddened to learn of Carl's passing this AM. We did a lot of business together and he was an "old school" guy where a man's word and handshake were his bond. I enjoyed the golf he hosted at LCCC as well as the many lunches and dinners he hosted for many of the "old timer" real estate developer gang. He was the last of a dying breed and I will miss him terribly.

Brenda and Shannon,
I am so sorry to hear about Carl. I will miss seeing “Uncle Carl.” I have really good memories of our summer trips to California, Florida, Lake Ouachita and the Buffalo River, to name a few. Michelle and I always loved going to Dallas to see you all. Carl was like a second Dad to us, and Brenda and Carl spoiled us while we were there. I imagine Carl and dad are in heaven together now reminiscing about all the fun times they had together. You all are very special to us. We will be praying for you all in the coming weeks. Love you!

Carl was a wonderful friend and advisor to me for many years. I always appreciated his candor and honesty. He had been through so very many experiences and travails that his advice was always right on. I was shocked to learn of his passing. The last time I saw Carl was at a wonderful lunch with Bob Hefner at S&D Oyster Co. He looked great and was in great happiness. He had just retired from the Bank and was looking forward to spending more time with his family. I and we all have lost a great friend and a wonderful man! He will be greatly missed.

Shannon,
I am deeply saddened by the news of your Dad’s passing and my heart goes out to you, you Mom as your entire family.
I learned of Carl’s death earlier today from our mutual friend J C Sterquell and immediately went on line to find his obituary. I had been with your dad only a few months back and he seemed to be doing fine and indicated as much. I was therefore doubly surprised by this sad news.
Carl was a dear and treasured friend for some 40 years. He as a man of character and integrity and I greatly admired him.
I remember - all too well - our many duck hunting trips to the swamps of Louisiana in freezing weather. We would be up well before dawn and get in a cold little boat driven by Carl’s favorite guide - the one armed Boudreaux! Boudreaux could always be relied on to show up with his gun and a pint of some pale blue liquor that he took from the bottle as a “stimulant”.
Carl always insisted that I - as his guest - be the first to jump down in the half sink blind in the dark after assuring me that there was no risk of snakes being coiled up just waiting for anyone stupid enough to make the leap of faith!
Somehow we survived and always has a wonderful time together! I will miss him greatly.
I was always terribly proud of your dad’s service as a US Marine and his willingness to do two tours in Nam. I managed to avoid that - which only gave me more respect for those who went. He was a first class hero!
Finally I must tell you that the proudest aspect of your dad’s life - certainly to him - was his beautiful daughter. When your name came up he was always smiling! He was proud of you every day and simply loved you with all his heart. Your children brought him great joy!
Sadly we have to be away starting this Wednesday and have obligations that require my attendance.
Please give Brenda my love and let her know I will be thinking of all of you on Friday.
You are all in my prayers.
God Bless You!

Those teenage years....I remember one time Carl wanted to visit Brenda. Carl and I drove his old car from North Little Rock to Dallas arriving too late to visit and, not able to pay for a motel room, we spent the night in his car so he could see his girlfriend/future wife bright & early the next day.
I miss my friend but look forward to seeing him some day in the future.

Carl and my late husband, Dennis were best of friends since their Marine Corps days. Carl was such a good friend to Dennis and stayed in touch with me after Dennis passed, making sure all was well with me. He was such a kind, loving man who enjoyed life so much, and loved his family so dearly. I'll miss him!

In my mind’s eye, I will always see Carl standing in the narthex of the church handing out bulletins with that warm smile of his! Now I know why he stood so tall, it was the Marine in him! So sorry to hear that he has run ahead to heaven before us, but so thankful I got to know him here and I will see him later!!! I’ll bet Dudley has already found him! Thank you for all the beautiful pictures and please know that I will be praying for you between now and the service and especially at the time of the service, my dear friend, Brenda!!! 🙏❤️🙏

Brenda, Shannon, I was just making a comment about this a few weeks ago. Carl and I have been playing golf together since 1980. Carl, Steve K., Maurice K., Joe Huff, started playing together. I will miss the laughs and times placing our $2 bets with each other. I always looked forward to seeing Carl at the club and will miss him very much.
All the best to your family and let me know if there is anything i can do.

Dear Brenda, I just learned of the passing of Carl. Please know how much I respected your husband. Carl was and always will be a man's man! Someone who is trusted, someone who is admired, someone who is truthful, but most of all someone who believed in Jesus Christ and Heaven. While his body and soul are now in Heaven waiting for the rest of you, his memory will live on in our hearts and in our minds for the rest of the time we are here on this earth. I am truly blessed to have known Carl and want you and your daughter to know I am here to help in any way that you need help. It is my prayer that the Good Lord watch over you and your daughter and that you know he is holding Carl's hand in one hand and yours in his other. God Bless you and your daughter and God Bless Carl Fite. Semper Fi.
Sincerely,
Steve Kouzes and family
