

She was born on November 20, 1935 in New York City to Blanche and Charles Schleifer. She grew up in Brooklyn where she attended James Madison High School. Arlene met the love of her life, Dr. Bertram Meister, in 1958. They were married three months later, on August 31. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with family, celebration, friendship, travel, and culture.
She will be remembered for her deep devotion to her husband, her unconditional love for her family, her lasting friendships, her humor, generosity, and strength. She loved telling stories of her childhood in Brooklyn and her summers in Vermont.
She is survived by her daughters, Dr. Lynn Meister (Dr. Seth Tarras) and Mrs. Barbara Juhel (Dr. Jean-Marc Juhel), her sister Roslyn, her grandchildren Stephanie, David, Hannah, Brooke, and Kate, and was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bertram, brother Marvin, brother-in-law Henry, and sister-in-law Diane.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 3rd at 10:30 am at Temple Judea of Manhasset. Burial will follow at Cedar Park and Beth El Cemeteries in Paramus, NJ. Shiva will be held at 18 I.U. Willets Road, Roslyn, NY on Wednesday, September 3rd, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and on Thursday, September 4th, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arlene’s memory to The Alzheimer’s Association.
