It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved mommy, Arline Bess (Chana Byelah) Cammeyer (nee Brier) on October 31, 2026. Arline is survived by her husband Arnold “Arnie” of almost 65 years, her daughters Bonnie (Stuart) Youngentob, Allison (David) Fells, and Caryn (Eric) Epstein, her 7 grandchildren Marc (Lillye), Dana (Michael), Sydney, Jordyn, Jaclyn, Ben, and Ellie and her great-grandson, Louis. She was predeceased by her parents, Abraham and Nellie Brier and her brother, Sanford “Sandy” Brier, as well as her best friend and cousin, Marilyn Beberman.
Arline was born on May 16, 1940 in Flushing, New York to a large and loving extended family. She graduated from Bayside High School and Queens College. Arline began her career as a teacher. She then spent many years working in her parents’ pharmacy, Brier’s Pharmacy, before joining North Shore Cardiology where she worked for 38 years before retiring at almost 86 years old.
Arline and Arnie met on a blind date not too long before Arline was leaving for a summer job at Camp TA-RI-GO in Fleischmanns, New York. He visited her often and shortly thereafter, they were engaged and were married on January 27, 1962. They raised their family in Fresh Meadows, New York before moving to Harbor Hills in Great Neck where they lived for many years with a community of friends and family. For the last 20+ years, they have enjoyed an active social life filled with golf (with her first hole-in one at age 85), mahjong and friends at North Shore Towers in Floral Park. Arline was actively involved with fundraising for golf events supporting Babes Against Cancer for the American Cancer Society and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
What brought her the most joy was spending time with her family. Nothing was more important than celebrating milestones, teaching her family how to make her famous stuffed baked clams, hosting holiday dinners, watching Wheel of Fortune, and being present to cheer on all of her grandchildren.
Arline cared deeply about the people in her life. We are heartbroken and will feel her absence forever. Mommy/Mermar— we LOVE you always and forever!! XOXOXO
