Bertine Fields

Bertine Fields, age 99, of Little Neck, NY, passed away peacefully on November 6th, 2025. Born Sept 7th, 1926, in New York, NY, she was the daughter of Alma and Herbert Klapper, and stepdaughter of Hannah. She was a graduate of Hunter High School and went on to have a career as an office manager for WBAB radio station and for Time Electronics. She worked for most of her life until her retirement, then volunteered at LIJ Hospital for over 25 years until the pandemic. She enjoyed the pool, her mahjong games, watching baseball, football, golf and tennis on TV, and kibitzing with the neighborhood ladies. Most of all, she took enormous pride in her family and relished her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren - those near and far. She never lost her spark or her moxie and exercised her right to vote right until the end. She is survived by her son Alan (Lois), niece Sherry Klapper, granddaughters Shawn (Jorge) and Lindsay (Tate), grandsons Carey, Emilio and Ian, and her great-grandchildren Marina, Milo, Martin, Nikkilyn, Liam and Hannah. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jack, son Barry, brother Marvin Klapper, and her loyal companion Simon Solovey.

A funeral service will be held at Riverside-Nassau North Chapels, located at 55 North Station Plaza, Great Neck, NY 11021, on November 9, 2025, from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm.

Following the funeral service, a committal service will take place at New Montefiore Cemetery, 1180 Wellwood Avenue, West Babylon, NY, from 2:45 pm to 3:15 pm on the same day.
