From my very first interaction with Bruce, it was obvious how much he loved this building and the Kenwood Gardens community. And just as clear was his love for his partner for life, Sonia. Truly special, stately, and charming. Sending our prayers for comfort and peace to Sonia and the family.

Dear Bruce,

Ok, so death is a big Ugh! It has prohibited us to come over and see you, hear your laughter, talk to you about France and how much you are so into the same NHK channel we love and all things Japanese. 

We can’t see see you and Sonia laugh and carry on about literally anything. 

Or, for example when we got back from our Vietnamese trip we loved hearing you ask as only you can, “How was it man, tell me everything!”

And we would and you would be hearing us deeply, not just listening but hearing. You would feel what we were saying.

You are still and will always be with us. Death is a monumental Ugh, but it is along with love, our greatest teacher. In your case it reminds of us continually how much love you gave us all. 

Because of our human nature, we can remember your wonderful voice and hear it in our inner ear.

 I can imagine how you would react right here now while I am watching these parrots and java sparrows eat away in our bird feeder. You would freak over these birds and actually everything here in Honolulu.

Bruce, you know and you said it many times how fortunate you were to be with the one and only Sonia! OMG!!!!! The relationship you both built is worthy of a movie for sure!

What we love about you, Bruce is that you took refuge in all that existed within your own life. This was not some kind of evasion or escape, but you planted yourself deeply in the nature of what surrounded you and loved it all. This was and is a great teaching for us.

Bruce was my best friend for 65 years. All I can think about are the incredible number of experiences and moments that we shared.
In the early 60’s, it was frequent lunches in Bryant Park or Sushi, when it was still novel.
Then it was working together on printing for my freelance clients. If it wasn’t for Bruce, I would never been a tennis player for 55 years.
We experienced going through a divorce at about the same time. And then we each found the love of our lives. Thank goodness the chemistry was always great between Diane and Sonia. Sonia, the loving wife whose care and discipline were probably responsible for Bruce living as long as he did.
And then it was all the things the 4 of us did together. Years of celebrating birthdays, New Years and the many times we spent with them on Long Beach. They were also on the team of chefs helping to make Pierogi, Diane’s Polish specialty.
I will miss you, my dear friend.

Bruce was like the sun.. luminous, warm, and constant. His presence brought light and comfort to those around him, and his spirit leaves an enduring glow in all who were lucky enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.

Dearest Sonia:

Our hearts were broken when you shared the sad news of Bruce's passing. He was a very special person, caring, understanding, a friend for the ages and a man's man! Our 40+ year relationship brought laughter, fun times and a deep friendship that could not be broken by the miles that separated us.

He will forever be part of my life where our good times and upbeat memories shall remain deeply etched into my soul!

We hope your period of mourning will be brightened by remembering the manner in which he touched the lives of many and  shared his deep love for you.

It is such a privilege to have met Bruce.  He was a wonderful man whose kindness and enthusiasm brought joy to everyone around him.  Even though these last years he was not able to return to St Raphael, I cherished our correspondence and he was often in my thoughts.  He will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched.

As a little girl, I thought my cousin Bruce was the handsomest guy in the whole world. He was part of the older cousin group who I so admired.
In the last few years, we reconnected after a life time of building our own lives. He was even more charming, warm- hearted and generous than I remembered.  He and Sonia were remarkable in their joy for life -- their travels and their friendships were woven into their stories of their adventures.

Bruce touched the lives of all who knew him. He was supportive, caring, and he loved with his whole heart  He was interested in so many things, and was always there to listen when you had a problem. 
He loved his family, Kenwood Gardens and of course Sonia, his loving wife.  Bruce will be missed by many. But we who knew him are thankful that we had the pleasure of his company. My deepest condolences to his family.
