It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carl M. Solowey, 90, of Floral Park, New York, on September 23, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife Madelon of 67 years; children Brenda (Andrew) Nullman, Wendy Solowey Levine, and Eric (Dawn) Solowey; grandchildren Stephanie (Omri) Eban, Jaclyn (David) Epstein, Samantha Nullman, Jessica Levine, Corey Levine, Julia Solowey and Katherine Solowey; great grandchildren Liv Eban and Sydney Epstein; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dr. Solowey opened a solo medical practice in the early 1960s and treated patients for over 60 years in his office, at hospital clinics, and later with the Advanced Dermatology medical group. He loved helping patients and the challenge of diagnosing and treating difficult cases. He was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, where he earned his MD degree. He completed his dermatology residency at New York University Post-Graduate Medical School, Skin & Cancer Unit.
He loved to spend time with his family and on weekend home improvement projects. Over the years, his family, friends, and patients were able to experience his warm and friendly manner, his great sense of humor, his wisdom and intelligence, and his never-ending support and encouragement.
A graveside service was held with family at Mount Hebron Cemetery in Queens, NY, on Sunday, September 25, 2022.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
