Estelle Rozenberg (Yurkowitz), age 91, of Cedar Grove, NJ, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 2, 2019. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she attended Samuel Tilden High School and City College of New York. Married to Rabbi Martin S. Rozenberg, she served with him as Rebbetzin in congregations Rodeph Shalom of Philadelphia, PA, Temple Beth Israel of Hazleton, PA and The Community Synagogue in Port Washington, NY. Her natural warmth and empathy drew people to her. She was actively involved in the communities she lived in, taking leadership roles in the synagogue Sisterhoods and the local Hadassah chapters. Together with her husband Martin, she played an integral part in the founding of the Joseph and Betty Harlam Camp. During the 1960’s and 1970’s she was a co-leader of the National Federation of Temple Youth and Community Synagogue educational tours to Israel, Europe and the former Soviet Union. Living in Cedar Grove since she and her husband retired in 1996, she continued to dedicate her time to her family and her lifelong interests in cooking, travel, reading and flower arranging. She is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Martin, her children Rabbi Robert (Cynthia) Rozenberg, Karen (Douglas) Rozenberg Berman and Sandra Sadove, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Services were held at The Community Synagogue on November 4, 2019. Memorial contributions may be made to The Community Synagogue or URJ Camp Harlam.
