Jonat, Grace Fogel, 80, of Great Neck, NY died January 10, 2012. Born and raised in the Bronx, she loved New York City and was passionate about ballet, opera, politics, the Yankees and jazz, and once shared a cab with Charlie Parker. She was a civil rights activist, teacher and social worker and volunteered for twenty years at LIJ helping people obtain medical benefits. As a young girl she spent her summers at Skliars Hotel in Monticello, which was owned by her grandparents and where she kept her horse, Prince. Grace was generous, giving, had a unique fashion sense, a gift for friendship and those she loved, she loved deeply. She was a great mother to her son Steve Fogel, a great stepmother to John, Eileen and Michael Jonat, beloved by her four grandchildren Shannon, Jessica, Evan and Nicole, and will be sorely missed by the many friends and family who loved her dearly.
