Stu, so sorry for your loss. I'm lucky you introduced us all those years ago. I really enjoyed his company and spent many a time sitting on his couch just chatting. He always took a genuine interest in me and my business as well as my family. He will be missed.

Tamar and I were stunned and devastated to hear of the passing of one of the most distinguished businessmen we have ever met. A leader in the financial world, a philanthropist,  a man who caused an enormous Kiddush Hashem in the way he led his life, led the people who followed his leadership and those who were lucky to share his wise advice. Hal and Anita are friends, whose friendship we cherished. Many times, Tamar and I had the opportunity to meet them in New York or Jerusalem.  In the Jerusalem Great Synagogue, where Hal served on the Board of Directors, we realized it was Yom Kippur, when Hal walked in with his Kittel. Many are privileged to be associated with Hal, whose biography is a thick chapter in the pride of Jewish life. Anita's loss is our loss and we send Anita our heartiest condolences.. - Zalli Jaffe

My heartfelt condolences to the Beretz family.  I have fond memories of Hal during my teenage days working at Philipp Brothers in the 70's during the summers, as well as his close relationship with my late father, William Spier.
