Hazel Seidman

Hazel Seidman, 96, of Great Neck, NY passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward I. and Rose Lipsky; her sister, Evelyn H. Sade, and beloved husband, Elliot. She is survived by loving daughters Audrey Seidman of Albany, NY, Lenae (Richard) Madonna of Manalapan, NJ, and Peppy (Eric) Greenberg of College Point, NY; cherished grandchildren Keri (Austin) Rotter and Edward Madonna (Jessie) and great-grandchildren Sophie Rotter and Cecelia Madonna. Her two sons-in-law were like sons to her.

Hazel’s pride came in raising three strong women whom she taught to take care of themselves, to advocate for others, and to pursue their dreams. Along with Elliot, Hazel passed along to her daughters her gift of service to others. She was an avid learner in areas from Kabbalah to health and nutrition (we called her the “vitamin queen”), loved to sing and dance and enjoyed mah-jongg. She was a woman of faith, often saying that her husband was her best friend, and G-d her “very best friend.”

The home radio was often on with news or music; Hazel would discuss current events and the state of the world with her family and sing along with her favorite performers. She never tired of listening to Frank Sinatra or Barbara Streisand and, even in her final years, still knew all the words to their songs.

Hazel appreciated her travels with Elliot, experiencing new places and enjoying foods from all over. She took pleasure in good food and one of her favorite expressions became something the family will always remember: “My mouth is having a party.”

Memorial contributions may be made to the synagogue or hospice of your choice, or the Alzheimer’s Association to support others with dementia.

A Graveside Service will be held at Cedar Park and Beth El Cemeteries, 735 Forest Ave, Paramus, NJ 07652, US, on September 23, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:15 pm.
