
Joseph Kagan, 94, died on May 10, 2017. Joe was born in Hartford, CT, longtime resident of Roslyn, NY and White Sand Beach, Old Lyme, CT. Predeceased by Trudy, his beloved wife of over 65 years. Survived by his adoring children Diane Goldstein (Dr. Martin), Nancy Lisnow (Jay), Stewart (Sarah), cherished grandchildren David Goldstein (Jessica Davis), Laura Maciej (Adam), Andrew, Joan and Ruth, Elizabeth Lisnow and adorable great-granddaughters Hannah Davis Goldstein and Amelia Maciej. Also survived by his sister Marjorie Solomon, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bill and Ruth Rabinowitz, sister-in-law Sara Lee Patz and many nieces and nephews. Awarded the Silver Star for his service as a Captain in the US Army in World War II. After the war, Joe returned to the University of Connecticut, met Trudy and after graduation they moved to NY. In 1980 he retired as President of the Dannon Yogurt Company and former Vice Chairman of the Nassau County Heart Association. Subsequently, he formed dairy consulting firm Dinast Associates. Served the US Citizen's Democracy Corps in the former Soviet Union. Retired in 2012 after his final assignment with Kozy Shack/Freshway. Joe spoke to many student groups about the Battle of the Bulge. He was honored for his US Army service at the National WWII Museum, Fort Hood, Texas and by his beloved NY Mets at Citifield. A dedicated member of Manhasset Bay Yacht Club and Temple Judea. Dad, you always told each of us that we were "Number 1" but it was really you who was the BEST. We give you an "A+" for a life well lived. Services at Temple Judea of Manhasset, 333 Searingtown Road, Manhasset, New York, at 10am, Friday, May 12, 2017. Interment following at 3 pm at Temple Emanuel Cemetery, Wethersfield, Connecticut.
