

Lawrence Ravich MD, died on December 1, as a result of complications related to Parkinson’s Disease, which he battled for almost 15 years. He was 90 years old. Dr. Ravich practiced urology for over 30 years at hospitals throughout central Long Island. He was very active in all facets of the healthcare field through his roles as board member of Blue Cross Blue Shield of New York; on the Nassau County Board of Health for over 25 years; medical director of Prudential Insurance; executive director of Saint James Nursing Home; and president of the Nassau County Medical Association, and president of the New York State Urological Society. Dr. Ravich was also an active participant in local government, and was on The Town of Oyster Bay Town Planning Committee. Dr. Ravich was an Army private - first class World War II and an Air Force captain during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Sally, and three children Peggy (Ravich) Zamore, Steven and George, along with seven grandchildren Dena, Jodi, Zac, Danielle, Solomon, Erica, and Amanda. Dr. Ravich was born on September 14, 1924 in New York City where he lived with his family throughout his childhood. To his family and friends, Dr. Ravich’s lasting legacy will be his passion for his profession; his dedication to family; and his ability to remain a positive and productive contributor to his community even during his long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Funeral services Wednesday December 3, 2014 at 12 Noon at Riverside-Nassau North Chapels, 55 North Station Plaza, Opposite LIRR, Great Neck, New York. Interment to follow at New Montefiore Cemetery, Pinelawn, New York.
