Susan and Michael I am so sorry for your loss. I know how deeply you loved Susan's dad. He had so many admirable qualities. The boys were so lucky to be blessed with such a wonderful grandfather. I will always remember the grand piano in Great Neck filled with family pictures. He was so proud of all of you. Leon was a highly regarded Trustee of the Practising Law Institute since 1973 until he became an Emeritus Trustee in the mid-1990's. He was an active member of the Executive Committee for a number of years and was admired by staff and Trustees alike.

Dear family, I have known the silvermans for 55 years. They were my second family growing up next door. Leon was a father figure to me. I remember sitting around the dining room table and Leon showing compassion towards all of us. I'm sending all my love to rita, jane and susan. Love Naomi

Susie and I were best friends in high school, and I spent many weekends at the Silverman home.  Mr. Silverman treated me with respect, like I was a human beings in progress. He asked questions that made me think. Pretty unusual for a parent in 1972!

Leon Silverman lived a long and very full life, and my heart goes out to the entire family for their enormous loss.

I grew up in the home next to the Silvermans.  I remember Leon loved the Law.  He was brilliant, compassionate, passionate and eloquent about helping those less fortunate. My deepest sympathies to each of his family members.

My Uncle Leon was an amazing man in his professional life, as attested to by his partners, colleagues, awards....  But I remember the private man.  The Uncle who always had time to talk to a little girl, to answer my many, many questions, to make me feel welcome and loved when I was unhappy and lonely. He talked to me like I was a real person and never dismissed me as being just a child who was in the way. His dry sense of humor, his little half smile when he was sharing his views on whatever topic we were discussing. He taught me to look at all sides of a situation, to understand the other person's point of view, before deciding on a course of action.  My Uncle, Leon Silverman, was, and will remain, a bright spot in my life.  I cannot attend a Passover Sedar without hearing his voice stirring my emotions when  chanting Dayenu. Rest in peace, Uncle Leon, you will be missed but never, never forgotten.  I love you.
