my deepesr sympathies go out to mrs. max and the entire max family...I was in mr. max s homeroom in 1969, the first year dewey opened, and always kept in touch with him and last saw him at the last reunion....he was my favorite teacher at dewey and a man I respected admired and loved throughout my years of growing..he was also my draft counselor at the school and although the draft had ended by then he gave me good advice and I carried his words with me throughout the years....we also had a Friday afternoon basketball game in the gym for 3 years and he could really play...next to my own father I would say he was a great communicator and he will be missed greatly.....I am truly sad today knowing the world is without my friend, Les Max...

My deepest sympathies.  He raised a great son.

Les said that his legacy will be his wonderful children and grandchildren who are great people, as well as his work helping people as a psychoanalyst and teacher. He will live on through his incredible wife Bonnie and through all his beloved family members, as well as the many other people whose lives he touched.

Les uplifted not only all his friends, family, students and acquaintances, but he left an inspiring mark on everyone he met.

Those who have lost the most are the ones who gained the most.

May it comfort all to know that he's not really gone. Les will always be very much with us. We have another angel in heaven.

My deepest condolences to Mrs. Max and the entire Max family. At John Dewey H.S. we were able to call our teachers by their first names. I could never bring myself to call him Leslie out of respect and admiration. He was my math and homeroom teacher. I hold fond memories of him and can still picture him in plaid and jeans. May he rest in peace

Les was a man so easy to love and both June and I did. Spending any time with Les always put a smile on our faces.

I'm one of the "math people" (from Dewey class of '78) to whom your husband, father, and grandfather remains so important after all these years.  We're remembering him with great affection and thinking of you tonight.
