Dear Barbara,

I was on the internet searching for you and Morty, trying to make contact again, and found his obituary. So recent! I know he was having health problems because of his back when we last saw you in 2010. My hope is that he was able to spend meaningful years with you and your family.

Wishing you all the best in these trying times. Let's stay in touch.

Dear Barbara and family:
We just learned of Morty's passing. Morty was our friend and a friend to all who knew him. He always had a good word to say and a wonderful smile. We send our deep sympathy and condolences to you. May his memory be for a blessing.

Morty was my eighth grade gym teacher. It was his first year in NYC public schools right out of Brooklyn College. . I loved having him as a teacher. That summer he got me a job as an assistant counselor at the Kinghts of Pythias camp he helped run. After that I did not see him until more than fifty years later when we reconnected through the internet. Soon after, my wife and I were in NYC from Seattle and we had a lovely lunch together with Morty and his wife Barbara. We stayed in touch by phone thereafter but I lost contact with him in the last few years. Morty was a mensch in every sense of the word and will be missed by many. Spider Kedelsky
