Love and miss you so much, I still keep all of your voicemails

Rich and I met at ThrillerFest, the annual writers conference in NYC some time ago and we kept in touch. I greatly appreciated that he was a fan of my work and that he was always friendly and supportive.  My deep condolences go to his family and friends. 

Rich was my cherished friend and mentor for over thirty years. We began working together in the late 80s when the hotel company I worked for hired Rich’s company to provide PR support for our NYC hotel. We hit it off right away. Promoting hotels and organizing press trips to NYC and Toronto together were some of the happiest times in my life. Rich’s writing and media relations skills were brilliant. I learned so much from him. Rich and his associates spoiled me with so many quintessential NYC experiences … dining at the Russian Tea Room, dancing at the Rainbow Room in Rockefeller Centre, eating mile-high smoked meat sandwiches at Katz’s Deli, dinner at Smith and Wollensky’s, seeing plays on Broadway. In Toronto, I have fond memories of Rich bungee jumping at Ontario Place … and earning a standing ovation at a Karoke bar for his rendition of “Under the Boardwalk”. 
Rich came to Canada in June 2000 to attend our medieval-themed wedding a few hours north of Toronto. He happily swatted away mosquitos, joined in the fishing derby held during the weekend’s festivities, drank Canadian beer served on ice in a huge canoe and danced the night away with us and the rest of our friends and family. Three years later, our daughter was born on Rich’s 50th birthday. He sent her a few “Build-a-Bears” on their shared birthday in the early years. I love that he personally chose the heart for each of them. When we moved to the country to build and open an art gallery and expand our art and photography business, Rich continued to support and encourage me. I was heartbroken last year when he shared his devastating health news. I feel fortunate that I was able to tell him what his friendship meant to me, and our family - to share my love and gratitude.  He was there for all of the big stuff in my life. He will always be in our hearts and memories. I will miss you always, Rich. Wishing you love, light and peace. Tara xo 


Rich loved Superman (his dad was in one of the Superman films) he passed the love on to my 3 children and they will forever represent Rich while wearing their Superman outfits

All three of these kids will definitely miss all the talks and the very presence of Rich we considered rich family and he will always have a special place in our hearts and home for him, his name will be brought up daily in our conversations we promise to never forget the Great man he is

Rich will be missed more than I have the words to explain, he has been in my life since I was 7, he taught me so much, he was always there for us no matter the situation, I’m at a loss for words when it comes to how important Rich is to our family, we may have lived on opposite sides of the country but he was always there no matter the time or situation, he opened our eyes to so much and was always up for a great debate, he loved those around him with all he had, whenever I had a question I wasn’t sure about I could definitely depend on Rich to help me find the answers, he loved my kids (all 3) like they were his own and they love him just as much, they were just as excited as I was when I was a kid to talk to him, he had such great knowledge. He will be missed but Never forgotten he will live forever in our hearts and we will forever have great stories to to share together about Rich. Him and my mom loved each other for the past 30 years and he was always such a gentleman, thank you Rich for all you did and all the times you were there when you didn’t have to be thank you for showing me how a man should treat a women and speak to her properly thank you for sharing all the knowledge you had and for showing us the love (unconditional love) you had for us. We love you and promise to never forget your legacy ( the picture below does not include Rich but, me, my sister and mother) who was truly positively impacted by Rich being in our lives, he will always be our Superman/ Shark 

My deepest condolences to all the family and friends . Rich will be deeply missed he was my rock , his words,hope.inspiration , faith and love has greatly contributed to 3 generations in my family. Rich believed in the goodness of others and proved to me throughout the 30 plus years that you can be loved for just being yourself. He will always be my Superman and my Shark and I will never forget you

Rich served our committee well both as committeeperson and officer.  We honor him for that service.  May his memory be a comfort and blessing to all.

Richie as our family called him was a beloved member of the Altman and Lichtenstein families. During our growing up years we shared so many great family times together.  I am heartbroken that Richie was taken so soon. May the memory of the righteous be for a blessing.
