A proud Vietnam War Combat Army veteran, devoted father, grandfather, family man, and friend, he lived a life defined by courage, honor, sacrifice, and unwavering love for those around him.
Born on February 18, 1945 in Manhattan, NY, Richard answered the call to serve his country with pride and bravery in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His service was a source of deep pride throughout his life, and the values he carried from his military experience—strength, loyalty, discipline, and resilience—shaped the man so many admired and loved. To his family, however, Richard was far more than a veteran. He was a protector, a teacher, a steady hand, and a guiding light. To his wife Gail, Richard was the world, life partner, confidant & greatest supporter.
To his daughters, he was their hero and their greatest inspiration. He taught by example, showing what it means to work hard, stand tall in difficult times, and love your family without condition. His wisdom, quiet strength, humor, and generosity touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Richard found joy in the simple and meaningful moments of life—time spent with family, his brothers in the American Legion, friends from his Temple & community, sharing stories, helping others, and creating memories that will live on forever. His presence brought comfort and strength, and his legacy will continue through the countless lives he influenced with his kindness and integrity.
He is survived by Gail, his wife of nearly 50 years, his twin daughters, Miriam & Julia, son-in-law Aaron and granddaughters Hannah & Dakota who will carry his memory in their hearts forever. Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing his life was one of purpose, service, and love. His courage will never be forgotten, and his spirit will continue to guide us every day.
In honor of his service and memory, the family asks that donations be made to American Legion Post 103, Long Island Honor Flight or Magen David Adom, in lieu of flowers.
A Funeral Service will be held at Sinai Chapels, 55 North Station Plaza, Great Neck, NY 11021, US, on Wednesday-May 13, 2026, at 10:00 am.
Interment to immediately follow at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd. Calverton, NY.
