Roslyn was born and raised on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. After graduating from Hunter College at age 19, Roslyn obtained a masters in French from New York University, a rare accomplishment for a woman of her generation. Following World War II, Roslyn spent seven years in the Foreign Service for the US State Department, working during most of this time in Paris.
After returning to the United States, Roslyn married Emanuel Kline in 1954, and the two moved to Great Neck in 1957 with their first child. After raising four children, Roslyn rejoined the work force for another fifteen years, following which she volunteered for a number of area organizations and remained active in the community.
Roslyn is survived, and will be lovingly remembered by, three sons – Brett, a journalist in Paris, Ivan, a lawyer in New York City, and Eric, a Drug Enforcement Administration intelligence analyst – and five grandsons. A fourth son, Mark, died in 2010. Emanuel died in 2015, after 61 years of marriage with Roslyn.
