Ruth Sussman, nee Kaplan, died on January 24, 2024, in her home of 55 years, surrounded by her loved ones. Ruth created a world around her with her remarkable youthful energy, her humor and her sense of style. She touched many peoples’ lives across multiple generations. She was blessed to have been loved by two wonderful men- her husband Rob, who died in 2007, and later, her partner of 8 years, Bill Hartman.
Ruth was a much-loved mother to Karen (Jeff) and Danny (Beth), as well as her grandchildren: Matthew (Margaux), Jake (Julia), and Sophie. Ruth was further blessed with a ‘bonus’ family, Bill’s children, Valerie and Peter (Jeannie), and their children Charlie, Eli, Cate and Haley. She was 94 and a half when she died and was well until just a few months ago, preparing for the spring season in her store and her 95th birthday with her family. A fixture in all of our lives, she will be missed.
