Neil, I'm so sorry for your loss. May Sharon rest in peace.

I was so glad to reconnect with this beautiful soul through Facebook. Many years ago she sent me this photo asking me to ID the bird as it was very special to her. I will always think of her when I see a turkey vulture and today I had four overhead, one swooped down very low over my head, flapping its huge wings, and I’d like to think it was sharon waving and saying that she was OK..  she was so kind, so positive and that smile.  My deepest condolences to her husband, close family, and friends, and I know that her memory will be a blessing

So glad you’re out of pain!! You were like my Sister!! I will miss you Forever!! You were the bravest Woman I know fighting for 10 years with Grace and Dignity. I will miss our Concerts, late-night calls, Garage Sales, Dinners, and your beautiful face- no matter what you were going through you always looked Beautiful. You were so fortunate to find Neil-A man truly devoted to you!!!

Here we are at 17, but our sisterhood started in 4 th grade. I pretty much lived at the house with Sharon , Russel, dear Jack, Ella, Nanny and Popop, Faith the schnauzer, and Baby the parakeet who spoke in an accent like Nanny.  I can close my eyes and smell the fricasee that Nanny would make. We would eat it despite it being comprised of hearts and gizzards. Writing love songs to imagined boyfriends to popular tunes and spending hours listening to music, not just the Beatles but Cream and the Ronettes and Rachmaninov, played by Sharon downstairs on her piano. The depth of my connection to you will only grow deeper and I look forward to a dream visit from you , as promised. 
Neil, you are a treasure of a man and I will always be ready to share a happy quip to brighten up your day.

Miss Witherspoon will always miss her Molly

Sharon loved life and lived it as well as possible for as long as possible.  She enjoyed her teens and her friends in Belmore.  Except for one blip, she had a grand time in her twenties.  When she met Neil again, she told me she had finally met the right man for her.   

Sharon loved unconditionally, especially her son Michael, and her husband, Neil, who she also adored for being the best and most loving husband possible to her and father to their son.   

Sharon and I grew up as first cousins but, after we each lost a sibling, we became more like sisters to each other.   Our regular late-night talks would stretch for hours.  When we saw each other, it was as if no time had passed since our last get together.  
Sharon was not afraid to die, as her belief in the hereafter is/was resolute, but she was annoyed and unhappy with the timing of the escalation of her cancer.  Michael, your mom will be at your wedding in October in spirit and smiling down on Michelle and you from heaven.   

Sharon fought her cancer for 9.5 years, a miracle in and of itself and a testament to her love of life, even as that life became more restricted.  While Sharon is in a better place, finally released of the restrictions of her body, we who loved her will miss her terribly, from her grammatical corrections to her contagious laugh to the joy of listening to her play piano to hearing her gossip about all that was John Lennon.   I’d say, rest in peace Sharon, but I’d much rather you smile and laugh as you catch up with your dad, Russell, Barbara, your grandma and the rest of the crew waiting with open arms to greet you in heaven.
