Sheldon Amster, 94, was born on June 4, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York, and died on August 30, 2026. A longtime resident of New York, Sheldon will be remembered as a beloved and cherished presence—one whose compassionate spirit, thoughtful manner, and kind-hearted generosity were felt by all who knew him. His devotion to family and to the people in his life was steady and enduring, expressed in quiet care and consistent consideration.
Sheldon built his professional life as an attorney, a vocation that reflected his commitment to others and his attentive, principled approach to the responsibilities entrusted to him. In all he did, he carried himself with a respectful sense of purpose and a genuine regard for those around him.
He was married to Ruth and was a devoted father to two daughters, Susan Amster, Kenneth Leonetti and Mara Amster, Matthew Ashare. He was also a generous and loving grandfather to Charles, Isabel, and Lucinda, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
A Committal Service will be held at New Montefiore Cemetery, 1180 Wellwood Ave, West Babylon, NY 11704, US, on September 1, 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am.
