Shirley Schwam of Port Washington, New York was born on March 28, 1927 and passed away on September 7, 2023, at age 96. Shirley grew up in Jackson Heights and graduated from Newtown High School in Elmhurst. A skillful creator of textile crafts, Shirley worked for decades on the editorial team of McCall’s Needlework and Crafts Magazine in New York City. Beloved daughter of Dora and William, Shirley was artistic, curious, intelligent and kind. She is survived by her dear sister Eleanor Schwam, and several generations of cousins, who will remember her strength, resilience, love of travel and years of precious friendship.
