Steve was such a nice, kind and beautiful person. I played on the Comptroller's softball team with Steve for many years ago and we hung out afterwards celebrating our wins. Steve was always very friendly, he made you feel special and helped you whenever you needed assistance with work related issues. He never had anything bad to say and  had a very positive outlook on life. He loved his work here at the Comptroller's Office,  dedicating 55 years here is very impressive.

We will all miss Steve and is unique smile.

Messing, I began my journey with you over 30 years ago at the Comptroller's Office.  I remember my first interview with you & Bruce Goodman and the rest is history. You were not only a co-worker but a friend too.  We shared Ranger tickets, moms home-cooked meals and many laughs together.  I have beautiful memories and funny stories I will never forget.  I always said, "Messing I will retire and you will still be working here."  I guess I was wrong.  It wasn't God's plan.  Accountancy was your home and family. You were a great friend with a big heart! Now, you are in heaven with your buddies playing Tennis  and Paddle ball.  Gone too soon but always in my heart.  Until we meet again.

It's hard to forget someone who gave us so much to remember. Messing, you can't be replaced. You will be missed. Rest in peace my friend. In Heaven with your buddies. 

So, so sorry to hear about Steve. I met him in 1978 as part of the Comptroller's Office softball team. We shared Rangers seats for many years, though I was, and still am, an Islanders fan.  Even after my retirement, I'd pick him up at the office and we'd go to dinner then a Rangers game. Then I'd give him a ride home or to his car near the  express bus stop. Been a couple months since I visited him at Atria and brought him to the Forest Park Tennis Courts, where he had played many weekends with Eileen Moran and others. Will miss him greatly.    My condolences and prayers are with the family.

When I became Messing's Supervisor in 2018, Messing cracked open a fortune cookie for me in the 1st week and said whatever message comes out, you have to tape it to your screen forever. I said ok. And, here it is. Has been on my screen since February 2018 and will be with me for good. Messing was a very jolly and kind soul. We have great memories together and it was a pleasure working with him. His presence is missed and will always be missed in the office! My condolences to everyone who knew him personally. May he rest in peace!
