
Sylvia Remer was an elegant, stylish, understated and a kind woman who loved her family. Sylvia loved life to the fullest. She was philanthropic and supported PBS, and Temple Emmanuel of Great Neck. She enjoyed vacationing in the Catskills, The Fontainebleau in Miami Beach, Shorehaven Beach Club and Viking River Cruises. Sylvia’s passions included Scrabble, politics, bridge, golf, Oreo cookies, and cooking. Sylvia was very strong and survived several cancers and led a healthy and active life for many years. Sylvia created her own recipes for ratatouille, rock Cornish hens, and turkey
The love of her life was her first husband Fred Stanley Remer. Sylvia was a great daughter in law to Minnie Remer. Sylvia was independent, and ahead of her time. She mastered the internet (emailing) and excelled in bridge and golf. She took the initiative to play bridge and golf and compete with men.
Sylvia found new happiness in her love life and companionship with her boyfriends; Julius Gershen and then Mel Berkowitz; after her husband Fred died.
She will be deeply missed by Janis and Max, and her son, Stuart, and daughter in law, Cara.
