William Zimmerman, age 96, of Queens, New York passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. William was born in New York City, NY. A graveside service for William will be held Monday, September 18, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 3:45 PM at Wellwood Cemetery, 1400 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, NY.

We mourn the loss of William Zimmerman, who died on September 13, 2023, at the age of 96. The cause was most likely heart disease, and he died peacefully in his sleep. William was born December 5, 1926, in New York City, and grew up in Brooklyn and the Lower East side of Manhattan. He served the country in World War II as a radio operator in the Merchant Marines. He studied engineering at City College of New York and graduated with a degree In Engineering. He had a long career as a mechanical engineer, working for machinery manufacturers earlier in his career, and then later as an independent consultant. William was a devoted husband to his wife Bernice for 75 years, and they have two children, Susan and Peter. He is survived by all three. William enjoyed paddleball in his younger years, dining out on the varied cuisines on offer in restaurants in New York City, history, and travel, particularly Italy.
