Alice Marie Leonard

Alice Marie Dinkel Leonard, 80, of Greeley, CO, passed away August 20, 2023 at Westlake Lodge and Rehabilitation in Greeley. She was born in Las Animas, CO on November 12, 1942 and graduated from Greeley High School in May of 1960.

She worked for Kress Department Store in Greeley. She married Tyle Hembry on April 28, 1962 and they had two children. They divorced in 1973. Alice married Robert Leonard on May 10, 1975 in Greeley and Bob adopted her two children, Duane and Tylynn.

In May 1976, the family moved to South Fork, CO. Alice worked for a law firm in Monte Vista and later for the Superintendent of Schools and was also an Office Manager for Metzger Accounting in Del Norte, CO.

In 1984, she and her family moved to Eaton, CO, where she worked for Eaton Police Department as a Certified Police Officer, Office Manager and was also the Court Clerk, before her retirement. Alice and her family also raised registered Quarter Horses. Robert Leonard passed away on August 19, 2021.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents, Peter and Laura Dinkel and her brother, Pete Dinkel, Jr.

Survivors include two children, Duane (Denise Mauth) Leonard of Craig, CO and Tylynn (James) Riofrio of Platteville, CO; two sisters, Mary Ann Drake and Geneva Babbitt both of Ault, CO; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 28th Street in Greeley on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.

Reception will be held at the Ault Senior Center, 204 1st Street in Ault from noon to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 2, 2023.
