Allen attended Christ College, graduating summa cum laude, and later continued his theological education at Concordia Seminary, where he received his Master’s of Divinity. While he was a seminary student, he served under Keith Weise. His life reflected a steady devotion to learning and to the careful, compassionate work of serving others.
Allen completed his vicarage at Peace Lutheran Church in Hastings, Nebraska, serving under Reverend Donald Boeschen. He was ordained and went on to serve as pastor at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Yuma, Colorado. After moving to Greeley, Colorado, Allen also worked as the Health Services Coordinator at Community Advantage, a role in which he took deep pride—supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with dignity, patience, and attentive care. During his time at Community Advantage, he was honored to serve as the officiating pastor for several memorial services.
On June 5, 2004, Allen married Nichole Drexel Hauck. He was a beloved step father to Philip Hauck and a cherished Papa to his granddaughters, Rita Hauck and Raynna Hauck, finding particular joy in time spent with them—playing, laughing, and simply being present.
Allen’s personal life was marked by quiet joys and thoughtful creativity. He kept a library of books that he loved to read, and he also made jewelry, bringing care and intention to what he crafted. He further extended his generosity as a host home provider for several individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, offering steady support and a welcoming place in daily life.
Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Darlene (Shaw) Yount.
He is survived by his wife, Nichole Yount; stepson, Philip Hauck; granddaughters, Rita Hauck and Raynna Hauck; siblings, Pat Rocheleau (Merv) and Jim Yount (Alice); nieces, Renee Coghill, Nicole Schutz, and Megan Reis; nephew, Jared Yount; and several great nieces and nephews.
