Obituary of Amy Marie Burkholder
Amy Burkholder (Pardo), 60, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2022. Born on September 27, 1961 to parents Florence Martha Wachtman and Robert William Burkholder in Ohio. At age seven, Amy moved with her family to Aurora, Colorado. She graduated from Gateway High School in 1980. After graduating, Amy went on a trip to Mexico, which sparked her interest in learning Spanish. She then moved to Greeley, Colorado to attend UNC. She studied Languages and Culture, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Education, later returning to school to complete her Master’s degree. In college, Amy spent time abroad in Spain and Germany improving her Spanish and completing her student-teaching, before returning to Greeley which she decided to call home. Her only daughter, Bryana, was the light of her life. Amy began teaching at Valley High School in Gilcrest for 15 years, and then taught Spanish at Greeley West High school for 15 years. Amy loved her students, and had a positive impact on many of their lives. A lifetime Catholic, Amy loved the Lord. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends. She was passionate about learning, especially about other cultures. Many were touched by her sweet and kind spirit. Amy is survived by her daughter Bryana (Zane) Dacus; mother, Florence Burkholder; sister, Beth (Terry) Cassara; brothers, John (Pam) Burkholder, and Bill (Audrey) Burkholder; and stepson, Ben (Kat) Gallegos-Pardo and their three children Eva, Mia, and Noah; as well as her beloved nieces and nephews. Amy is preceded in death by her father Robert W. Burkholder. Visitation will be held Thursday 8/18 from 4-6 pm at Allnutt Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Friday 8/19 at 9:30am at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Greeley, followed by graveside service. Reception to follow at Allnutt Funeral Home at Noon.
