“From life into eternal life, she walks with strength and grace.
From peace into eternal peace, now that she sees His face.”
Anne Ruth Stankus Pierce met her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, July 24th , 2015. Surrounded by her loving family, her passing was a peaceful and beautiful time of sorrow, worship and joy.
Born to Stanley S. Stankus and Elizabeth H. Palin Stankus on January 1, 1934 in Newark, New Jersey, Anne grew up with a love of music, cooking and summers spent at the NJ shore. After high school she attended Bob Jones University with a degree in education. While teaching second grade, she met Kenneth Charles Pierce, a handsome soldier from Ft. Monmouth, and they married on April 11, 1958. Anne and Ken moved to Colorado where they raised three children, Deborah Jean, Kathryn Ruth, and Richard Mark. Anne stayed at home to raise her children for many years until she returned to teaching in Christian School. Anne and Ken moved to Oregon in 1978 where she taught in Christian schools until her retirement in 1996. Anne and Ken later moved back to Colorado to be close to their children.
Throughout her career as a school teacher, her patient, passionate gift of teaching was appreciated by many students and their families. Outside the classroom, Anne taught her own children and grandchildren to love music, garden, and love people through the gift of hospitality. She was a humble example of a life lived in Christ. Through guidance, gentle discipline and an unwavering strength, Anne grew deep relationships with her friends, church communities and her devoted family that will last far beyond her passing.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Ken, her brother Stan Stankus, her children Deborah Pierce, Kathryn Pierce Kvidera (David), Richard Pierce (Alisa), Pete Steele (Deb), seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She will be sorely missed and remain dearly loved here on earth, but there is joy and peace in knowing she is with her savior in heaven.
A celebration of her life is to be held on Tuesday, July 28th at 2:00 in the afternoon at Front Range Baptist Church in Fort Collins, CO.
