May 6, 1933-March 7, 2011
After a valiant fight with cancer, Benito passed away on March 7 surrounded by his family. He was born in Roswell, New Mexico on May 6, 1933. In the late thirties, his family came to Colorado.
He attended grade school until the fourth grade. Then he sacrificed his education to help his parents. At 17, he went to Nebraska for work. Benito grew up working hard for his parents until he went into the Army. He soon found himself on a passage overseas to serve in the Korean War. Benito was a compassionate soul who thought of others and that characteristic did not leave him during the war.
At the age of 21 he married Sophia Elizabeth. He spent 49 years with her. Within that time, milestones and memories were shared. From the adoption of the first child to the birth of 7 more children. As their golden years approached, Benito found himself walking beside his beloved wife as she endured years of illnesses until Jesus came for her on May 21, 2004. After that Benito was incomplete until March 7, 2011.
He was a compassionate man, who instantly made friends. He always had a smile and was ready to make you smile. He was proud of his family, and his service in the war. He will be remembered as a hero whose strength brought him through life. And now this soldier's armor has been laid down.
