

Betty “Be” Brodie Brough, 85, of Fort Collins CO died February 18, 2018 after a brief illness. Be was born in Longmont, CO on July 21, 1932, the daughter of Ronald and Irma Bashor Brodie. Her family moved to Estes Park, CO where she lived for almost 70 years. She graduated from Estes Park High School in 1950. After high school Be was a ticket agent for Continental Airlines in San Antonio, TX then later transferred to their reservation offices in Denver. Be married her high school sweetheart Gene O. Brough on April 17, 1954, while Gene was in the US Navy. While he was in the service they lived in San Diego and Bainbridge Island off the coast of Seattle. After the service, they moved to Denver where their children Brett and Tammy were born. Later they moved to Estes Park where with her late husband, Gene Brough (†2016) she raised 2 very active and independently minded children. She was also an active volunteer for many organizations in Estes Park. Be was an avid bowler and served as president of the Estes Park Women’s Bowling League. Among other activities, she served as president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 119 and the Estes Park Historical Society. She and Gene moved to the Good Samaritan in Fort Collins in 2009. Be is survived by her son Brett (Leisa), of Tulsa OK, daughter Tammy McNitt of Westminster, sister Roburta Herzog (Bill), sister in law Betty Sweetland, brother in law Richard Brough (Lois), grandsons Brandon McNitt (Liz), and Shane McNitt (Tiffany)’ and six great grand children and many nieces and nephews. Be was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gene and her parents Ronald and Irma Basher Brodie. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel at the Good Samaritan Society, 508 W Trilby Rd, Fort Collins, on Saturday Febaury 24 at 11:00 AM . In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Be’s memory to the Estes Park American Legion Post 119, in care of Allnutt Funeral Service 1302 Graves Ave. Estes Park, Co 80517.
