With heavy hearts, the family of Beverly “Bev” Doris Hodgson would like to share her life story and celebrate a life well lived. Bev passed 8/4/2026 in Greeley, CO at her Greeley Village apartment surrounded by her family. She was born on April 1, 1938 in Loveland, CO to Clem and Doris (Dimmitt) Gapter. She lived in many places, moving at least 15 times in her life. Some of the most memorable were the pacific coast of Oregon and the Gapter subdivision in Boulder, CO.
Bev graduated from Boulder High School in 1957 where she met the love of her life, Albert “Lee” Hodgson. They were married on July 28, 1957 in the old Valmont Church and became the proud parents of five children—Denny, Connie, Sheri, Mark, and Tammy. The couple worked and lived in the Boulder area until 1970 when they moved to LaPorte, living there until they moved to Platteville in 1989. All the while they always had animals: countless dogs—including many schnauzers, sheep, cattle, chickens, pigs, and horses. They sold the farm in 2022 and moved to Greeley, CO.
Bev had many passions: bowling, gardening—her flowers were so beautiful and her vegetable gardens were second to none, cooking and baking—she was amazing in the kitchen and made the best cookies and pies, and quilting—she made quilts or each of children, grandchildren and many friends and family. Above all she loved Lee, her kids, grandkids, great grandkids, and family. Bev’s home was always a welcoming place for friends and family. She supported the dreams and aspirations of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in whatever they did: livestock shows, school clubs, music concerts, sporting events, and more. Bev always kept an infectiously positive attitude and will be remembered for her caring, witty, courageous personality.
Bev is survived by 5 children: Denny (Debbi) of Fort Collins, CO, Connie O’Brien (the late Jack O’Brien) of Stapleton, NE, Sheri Maxwell (Tony) of Kersey, CO, Mark (Fiancé Denise Morrison) of Berthoud, CO, and Tammy Meisner (Mike) of Springfield, MO; 9 Grandchildren: Tyler Hodgson (Kasey), Chad Hodgson (Amy), Austin Hodgson (Lauren), Tate Hodgson (Payton), Dusty Maxwell (Sydney), Casey Maxwell (Caroline), Cortney Harrison (Dan), Rayna Vollmer (Nick), and Riley Meisner; 19 Great-grandchildren: Addison Hodgson, Macyn Hodgson, Jackson Hodgson, Avery Hodgson, Payton Hodgson, Camryn Hodgson, William Hodgson, Emily Hodgson, Berkleigh Watson, Kenzie Maxwell, Stetson Maxwell, Maci Maxwell, Emmie Maxwell, Cayden Maxwell, Cutter Maxwell, Caine Lee Maxwell, Binzley Harrison, Wrenley Harrison, Belton Harrison; brother Dick Gapter (Carole), sister-in-law Linda Fangmeier (Fred), and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and special friends.
Bev was preceded in death by husband of 69 years, Albert “Lee” Hodgson, parents Clem and Doris Gaper, brother Tom Gapter, sister-in-law Judy Gapter, sister Donna Gapter; in-laws Albert Earl and Annie Linnea Hodgson; sister-in-law Evelyn Jo Walker; son-in-law Jack O’Brien; brother-in-law Bill Walker, nephew Freddy Fangmeier, and numerous nieces, special relatives and friends.
