Born in Brush, Colorado, on June 21, 1954, to Willis and Juanita Honebein, Bill grew up in Loveland, Colorado. He graduated from Loveland High School in 1972 and entered the US Navy immediately after high school. He was stationed in the San Diego area, where he met his future wife, Donna Taylor, in 1973. They were married on October 8, 1977, after Bill’s return from active duty. They raised five children together: Sarah Marine, Jacob Gale, Lucas Michael, Hannah Louise, and Susannah Grace.
Bill worked as a meat cutter at Loveland Packing for many years, then moved to Syracuse, New York, in 1989, where he attended the Simmons Institute of Funeral Service. After returning to Colorado in 1991, Bill began his career in funeral service, which he continued until his retirement in 2018. He was a member of Saint Patrick Presbyterian Church in Greeley, Colorado.
In his free time Bill enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, and playing pinochle and backgammon with his family. He loved to show everyone his latest card tricks, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a loving and faithful husband, father, grandfather and friend, and was much loved in return.
Bill is survived by his wife, Donna, his five children, their spouses, and eighteen grandchildren, sister Frog Marshall and two brothers, Jerry and Bob Honebein.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, brother Ed Honebein, and several other close family members.
A memorial service in Bill’s honor will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 2, 2023 at St. Patrick Presbyterian Church, 803 10th Ave, Greeley, with a light reception to follow. All are welcome to join the family in sharing stories and memories of Bill.
