I knew your father and mother when they were students at Hiram Scott College. Billy and Joy would come over to our house to visit one of their favorite professors...my dad...Dr. Robert Manley. During that time, I became friends with Billy and looked up to him as a big brother. The day I want to tell you about is the day I've shared with my grade school students for 40 years...My lesson to the kids was called...The Day That Billy Cried.
It was in April of 1968. Billy was over and we were raking leaves in the yard. In the afternoon Mom opened the door and told us that Martin Luther King Jr had just been shot and killed. Billy fell to his knees crying. Me, being a young white kid from rural Nebraska...I had no idea why my hero and my big brother did that. I spent the next 4 years reading everything that Dr. King wrote or had written about him. While I was in college, I finally understood why Billy cried. 
In my 6th grade classes we studied Ghandi and King. On the first day, I would tell them the story and then on the last day each child had to write a paper on the lives of Ghandi and King and entitle it...I Now Know Why Billy Cried.
I am so sorry for your loss. I loved your Dad and Grandpa...even though I haven't him since the Scottsbluff Days. Just know, he had a huge impact on my life and the lives of over 3000 children.

Dear Stacey and Family,  Thank you so much for letting us know of Bill's passing.  He was a special client and friend to us both.  He left us feeling wealthy and blessed for having known him.  We look forward to seeing him later in God's eternal kingdom.  We are sure there is plenty more laughter ahead with him, straight from his Source of Joy, our Lord Jesus. Tyrone, Marie and Stacie words cannot describe the man Bill represented. He was a hero, a mentor, a father figure, and such an inspiration. What an awesome and unique individual he was. Bill had a way to communicate life's difficult lessons without judgement. He was so insightful. His love and dedication for his children serve as a constant reminder of what a true man is all about. I am saddened to have found out about his passing a week after, as I would love to have been at his service to show respect and honor to Bill. He was a man's man and I will continue to incorporate a lot of his philosophy, mantras,  and loving ways in my own life. He was and continues to be a great influence in my life. Tyrone and Marie- your dad was awesome! You should be very proud. I know he was so proud of you two. Stacie, thanks for being there for Bill. God bless you all and please know Bill was special to a lot of people and he will be missed. However, his spirit and life lessons will live on in many people's lives. He was a truely blessed man.

Billy was such a good man and such a wonderful friend to our family.  He always had a smile and a great laugh that will truly be missed.  Marie and Tyrone, you are all in my thoughts and prayers and I wish I could have been there with you on Saturday.

Dear Marie, Tyrone and families,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your father.  I think about you often and wonder what paths the two of you have taken. I am still at Scottsbluff High School.  I would love to hear from you when you get a chance. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

We are very sorry for you loss. Bill was quit an inspiration. He lived his life with love and empathy for everyone he met. Kathy and I knew Billy when he played basketball at Scotts Bluff College in the mid-1960's.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Billy's family and friends.  Billy was a very nice guy, with a great big heart.

Bill, was a big influence on so many people in his life.  He had a big heart and a great sense of humor. He will be deeply missed. Rest in peace Bill.

Dear Stacey, Marie, Tyrone, and all of Bill's family:
 We feel privileged to have known Billy for many years.  How special it was to begin a friendship during our children's early years.  Billy enjoyed a very good reputation and was admired by many in the Panhandle of Nebraska.  Billy was a bit demanding and highly dedicated to the physical dimension of life - especially on the basketball court.  He was an excellent player and role model for those on the team.  Billy was very perceptive and great with skills of communication.  We shared many thoughts and 
resolutions to some of life's circumstances over the years in Scottsbluff.  We are grateful that our friendship continued the last 6 years while here in Colorado.  Thankfully Bill is not suffering and at peace and certainly not known as a quitter.  We expect to see him again and know that he is busy helping prepare our place in that space - not made by human hands.  Bill was well aware of God's presence and again, we are grateful for that.  Bill leaves a great heritage and example for his family and friends - of love for others, serving, generosity, and being  faithful to so many.  Certainly Billy will be missed and we will continue to be in prayer for all of the immediate family. Truly He was a ""gentle giant""  -  dick and jane

Please accept my condolences on Billy's passing. I know he struggled with his health for many years. I just wish he wasn't taken at such an early age. I worked with Billy for many years up at Rawhide and have to say I am a better person for that. He had a very kind and  huge heart. He always spoke fondly and proudly of his family. No one could quite put things like Billy did. All of those Billyisms!!! They kept us going up here at the plant. What a great guy, he'll be sorely missed. I am so sorry for your loss!!

Dear Stacey, Marie, Tyrone, family and friends....I am saddened to hear of Billy's passing.  More than a former co-worker, I considered Billy a friend.  There was no one I enjoyed talking philosophy with more than Billy.  Over the last several years, I only saw him twice...both times in his home.  Once over lunch where i was treated to his famous fried potatoes and a gigantic steak!  He knew how to cook!  He was interesting, funny, insightful and loved his family.  He will missed by so many. We were so sorry to hear about Bill.  He was a very generous man and we were so glad to have met through our mutual friend, Lester.  Prayera and thoughts are with his family and friends.
