Candelaria S. Garza, 74, of Galeton, CO, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. She was born June 16, 1949 in Batesville, TX to Manuel and Maria (Martinez) Salazar.
Candelaria and her family came to Colorado in 1954 to work in the fields. She met Marcos Cortinas Garza during the Stampede 4th of July carnival. They were married the next year on July 10, 1964. They would have been married for 60 years.
Candelaria worked at Bailey's, sewing jeans and later worked at Monfort Portions.
Candelaria enjoyed sewing, traveling to Estes Park in the summer and to Central City with Marcos. She loved the bonfires in the backyard. However, greatest joy was her family and spending time with her loved ones.
Candelaria is survived by her husband, Marcos Sr.; daughters, Alicia (Jose A.) Pinon and Maria Gonzales; son, Rick Garza (Shiela Torres); sisters, Trina and Lisa; brothers, Manuel, Johnny, Sammy, Lionel, Joe, Abel and Reno; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, three brothers, her son, Marcos Jr., daughters, Martha and Sylvia and grandsons, Alex and Jacob Lee.
A visitation will be from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2024 followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. both at Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 W. 28th St., Greeley. Interment to follow at Eaton Cemetery.
